My journey with woodcarving began over ten years ago (2014), born from a deep appreciation for nature and a fascination with the quiet stories hidden in wood. When I first discovered bog oak and bog yew — trees that have been preserved for thousands of years in the earth — I was captivated. There’s something almost magical about working with materials that hold so much history.
I’m inspired by the natural forms within the wood itself — the grain, the twists, and imperfections that tell their own story. Often, I begin carving without a fixed idea, letting the shape of the wood guide me. I’m drawn to organic, flowing forms and pieces that feel like they could have grown that way on their own.
Ultimately, I carve because I love the process of revealing something beautiful and timeless from a raw piece of nature — and knowing it will become part of someone else’s story.
